Glow Girl: Letting Your Inner Light Shine Bright
What if your glow had nothing to do with your makeup, outfit, or the number of likes on your latest post? What if it came from something way deeper—something that can’t be bought, filtered, or copied?
Welcome to Glow Girl, one of our favorite workshops at The Girl Lab. This session isn’t about looking perfect. It’s about discovering your light and letting it shine from the inside out. It’s about learning to see yourself as enough, right now, exactly as you are.
Sounds powerful? It is.
So... What Is a Glow Girl?
A Glow Girl is someone who lights up a room without even trying. Not because she’s loud or always smiling, but because she knows who she is. She respects herself. She sees her own worth. She treats herself with love and isn’t afraid to stand up for what she believes in.
She glows because she’s not waiting for the world to approve of her. She already approves of herself.
What We Talk About in Glow Girl
This workshop dives into three big themes that every girl should understand:
1. Self-Worth
Self-worth means believing you matter. That your thoughts, dreams, and feelings are important. It means you don’t have to shrink, apologize, or change to be accepted.
A lot of us tie our worth to grades, likes, followers, friend groups, or appearance. But those things change. Real self-worth? That stays, even on your worst day.
In Glow Girl, we ask questions like:
When do I feel my most confident?
Who or what makes me doubt my worth?
What does it feel like to believe in myself?
These aren’t questions with right or wrong answers. They’re meant to help you think and feel your way into understanding your own glow.
2. Self-Respect
Self-respect is how you treat yourself. It’s how you let others treat you too. If someone talks down to you or crosses a boundary, self-respect helps you speak up. It tells you: "I deserve better."
Respecting yourself also means:
Not settling for toxic friendships
Taking care of your mental and physical health
Saying "no" when something doesn't feel right
We do fun roleplays and discussions in the workshop to practice this. Because standing up for yourself isn’t always easy—but it gets easier with practice and support.
3. Inner Beauty
We hear about "inner beauty" all the time—but what does it actually mean?
Inner beauty is how you treat people. It’s your sense of humor, your creativity, your kindness, your strength. It’s being real. And when you know that your true beauty comes from who you are, not just how you look, that’s when you truly glow.
In Glow Girl, we remind each other:
You don’t need to be perfect to be beautiful
Your flaws don’t make you less worthy
Your story matters—and it’s still being written
Real Girls, Real Glow
Let’s be honest: it’s not always easy to feel good about yourself. Between everyday stresses, social media pressure, friend drama, and just being a teen, life gets real. But the glow doesn’t come from ignoring those things. It comes from learning how to deal with them in healthy, honest ways.
The world is loud with messages that tell girls they’re not enough. Glow Girl is our way of turning down that noise and turning up the truth: You are enough. You’ve always been enough. You just need to be you—and learn how to love that person from the inside out.
